The Open Access Button is a browser bookmarklet that tracks and maps the impacts of paywalls. The beta Open Access Button was launched in November 2013 at the Berlin 11 Student and Early Stage Researcher Conference and to date the Button has mapped over 9000 paywalls. The project is always growing, so we’re often looking for volunteers to join the student team that runs the project. Please check out the current volunteer positions if you’re interested in joining the team.
After months of work, we’ll be launching the new, updated version of the Open Access Button and all new companion mobile app during Open Access Week 2014. To support the launch of the new Button, you can host a launch event in your community.
